DAY 7 - DAVID
The story of King David and his son King Solomon marks the Golden Age of the Jewish people. With a near fulfillment of the three promises to Abraham, everything comes unraveled. For a thousand years, the Jews wait for God to restore this Golden Age and fulfill the promises. It isn't until Jesus appears that we see him, acting as a New David, bring all of God's work to their culmination and completion.

Wednesday Reflection
First Reading: Isaiah 7:10-14; 8:10Psalm 40Second Reading: Hebrews 10:4-10Gospel: Luke 1:26-38What does it mean to say Yes? How often in our lives do we say yes without even thinking twice, knowing that if something comes up, we can always decline an invitation. When Mary said yes to the will of God in today’s Gospel, one can only imaging the emotions going through her mind, fear, anxiety, confusion. Each of us have experienced these emotions at some point in our lives, but never having to make such a decision as Mary did. How often do we say “yes” to the will of God in our lives? Are we conscious of His will? Take an opportunity to discern what God is asking you to do today and act on it. Have the courage as the Blessed Mother did and allow God to work through you in all that you do. Mary Mother of God: Pray for us!

The Main Points to Teach Your Child:
Story of David - God brings David from shepherd to king, to lead His people
God's Convenant with David - David is king and God promises his descendants will rule forever
Jesus, son of Joseph, is from the house and lineage of David.
A Note from Julie:
Dear families,
We are a full week into isolation, experiencing a complete upheaval of our daily lives, with you--our young families--perhaps facing some of the biggest challenges. Like David, they may appear gigantic! But know the wonderful families of Holy Cross, I am confident you are working hard to provide your families a sense of security during these days of uncertainty with great concern for what the future holds--work, education, health, finance, etc.
I pray, that as David stood firm in his confidence in God, and that you may also stand strong. May you continue to hold-fast in this time of constant change and uncertainty, to the one constant which remains in our lives--God. May you confidently put your faith in God, trusting in Him to guide and protect us all through these turbulent days. I pray you are able to keep Christ at the center of each of your days with THE CROWN RETREAT supporting your daily efforts.
In order to better understand the situation of our families, we are asking, if you haven't already, that you fill out this short survey. Our hope is that the collective results will bring more clarity to how we can best serve and pray for our community.
God bless,
-Julie Sheridan
