Readings
Acts 4:13-25Psalm 13:13-25John 13:16-20What is the true meaning of friendship? When we think of a friend, we think of one who remains with us in all times both happy and difficult. Jesus calls the twelve and throughout His public ministry teaches them by His ministry. The friendship between His disciples and Himself is shown today in the Gospel where Jesus the master and teacher becomes the servant. When we think of friendship, it is often easy to receive friendship but can be difficult to show the true meaning of what friendship is. Friendship is being a listening ear when someone is hurting, helping someone to make a difficult decision, and simply walking with those who need companionship. How do you fit into today’s Gospel? How are you able to show true friendship to those you encounter? Take some time today and meditate on your friendship with those close to you but most importantly, how is your friendship with Christ? May the Risen Christ always walk with us and remain with us now and forever.

The Main Points to Teach Your Child: the Precept of the Church #2...
Quick review the 10 Commandments... rules to guide and protect us and our relationship with God and one another. They help us to live a moral life. The DON'Ts of a relationship with God.
5 Precepts are... "DOs" of a relationship with God.
Attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days
Go to Confession at least once a year
Receive Holy Eucharist once a year during Easter
Observe Fasting / Abstinence
Provide for the Needs of the Church
Precept #2: Go to Confession Once a Year (like all relationships, it is necessary to apologize and ask for forgiveness sometimes)
means...
just that, confess your sins at least once a year (more often if you commited mortal sins)
because...
going to Confession is an essential part of a relationship God, relationship with anyone. We need to ask forgiveness and say "I am sorry" when we make a mistake or sin.
when we say "sorry" , we are acknowledging our sins and then we can be forgiven.
when we are forgiven, we are able to be reunited with the God and the person we love.
seems like a hard thing to do. The real problem is...
we don't think we need to go to Confession. This is a common tactic of the Devil. The Devil is constantly trying to keep you from God. He will use small things, simple suggestions to pull you towards sin in little ways. Before you know it, little by little you stop seeking God or thinking about Him.
we don't want to go to Confession. I'll go later. We procrastinate. "We put off our conversion again and again until death, but who says that we will have the time and strength for it then?" - St. John Vianney
A Note from Julie:
Dear Parents,
Perhaps you usually go to confession during Lent or Holy Week but missed the opportunity this year with all that is going on. But, do you know that we have access to confession, even now? Although the church may be closed, Fr. Kurgan and Fr. Rawson are available to meet with individuals by appointment.
You simply call the Parish Office 315-446-0473 to schedule a day and time. Why not make this a family event? If you have children that have made their First Reconciliation, schedule time for them too! Encourage the whole family to take advantage of this slower pace, take time to reflect on your life, your actions, recalls any sins and confess them. Be free of them and step closer to the Lord!
Then go have ice cream, a treat, or something special together. Enjoy your family and bask in God's love, forgiveness and mercy!
God bless,
-Julie Sheridan
