FRIDAY, MARCH 20TH

DAY 2 - ADAM & EVE

Today, we learn about the story of Adam & Eve. In this event of our great ancestors, we see how God gave us free will and in it we chose to disobey and reject his plan for us. Yet God loved us. He prepared the world to send us his Son who would take on the curses of Adam to redeem us.

Reflection for Friday

Gospel Reading: Mark 12:28-34

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind, and all your strength. Our Gospel reminds us of a difficult message today, that is to love all of those we encounter. We are called not only to love, but to make sacrifices for those whom we encounter. We often think to ourselves that during this Lenten season, that love, and sacrifice should be at the core of what our Lenten practices are. What do you need to do to draw closer to God during these next few weeks of lent? Continue to go to God in prayer and trust that he walks with us on this difficult journey.

The Main Points to Teach Your Child:

  • God creates Adam and Eve and gives them the freedom to choose if they will love him back.

  • This choice is described by God making the tree of Good and Evil and tells them not to eat it.

  • Adam and Eve reject God's plan and choose not to love him back and they eat of the fruit.

  • Man now is in big trouble. God then makes a plan to send his Son so that we can have a chance to be with him again in Heaven.
